WRINKLE CONCERNS

Refresh Your Appearance While Maintaining Natural Expression

As we age, our skin naturally changes. Collagen and elastin production slows, skin becomes less resilient and repeated facial expressions can begin to leave visible lines and creases.

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WRINKLES

Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles appear when facial muscles contract during expressions such as smiling, laughing, frowning or squinting.

These lines are often only visible when the face is moving and commonly affect the forehead, frown area and outer eye region.

Static Wrinkles

Over time, repeated facial movement combined with the natural ageing process can lead to wrinkles becoming visible even when the face is completely relaxed.

These are known as static wrinkles and may become more noticeable as collagen and elasticity decline.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Wrinkles develop naturally over time as the skin loses collagen, elastin and hydration. Repeated facial expressions, combined with the ageing process and environmental factors, contribute to the formation of facial lines and wrinkles.

There are two main types of wrinkles: dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles.

  • Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles appear during facial expressions such as smiling, laughing, frowning or squinting. These lines are caused by repeated muscle movement and are only visible while the muscles are active. Common areas include:

    • Forehead

    • Frown lines (between the eyebrows)

    • Crow's feet (around the eyes)

    • Bunny lines (nose)

    • Chin

    • Neck (platysmal bands)

    Static Wrinkles

Over time, repeated facial movement, combined with the natural ageing process, causes the skin to lose elasticity and collagen. Dynamic wrinkles may gradually become visible even when your face is at rest. These are known as static wrinkles. Factors that may contribute to static wrinkles include:

    • Natural ageing

    • Sun exposure

    • Smoking

    • Genetics

    • Lifestyle factors

    • Skin quality and hydration

  • While ageing is a natural process, there are several ways to support healthy skin and reduce the appearance of premature ageing.

    Sun Protection

Protecting your skin from UV damage is one of the most important steps in maintaining healthy skin. We recommend:

    • Wearing a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily.

    • Wearing hats and sunglasses when outdoors.

    • Limiting excessive sun exposure where possible.

    • Eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

    • Avoiding smoking.

    • Getting adequate sleep.
